By writing a simple request letter you can stop ECS (Electronic Clearance System) payments to any beneficiaries to whom you have given the ECS mandates from your bank. 

Reasons to Stop ECS payments

  1. If you have completely paid the required amount to the beneficiaries.
  2. If you want to change the mode of payment method, for example from ECS to direct cash payment (or) cheque payment etc.

How can I stop the ECS Mandate?

You can stop the ECS mandate either in online mode on your bank’s net banking website (or) in offline mode by writing a request letter to the bank.

How to cancel ECS mandate online?

If the institution to which you have given the mandate request is listed in your bank’s internet banking billers list, then you can cancel the ECS mandate online, if it is not on the list then you have to write a request letter to your bank to close the ECS payment.

How much time will it take to stop the ECS mandate request?

It will take 1-2 days to cancel the ECS mandate request, but it is better to give prior notice to your bank as early as possible, whenever you want to cancel any ECS mandate requests.
